MISSION TO MARS
MISSION TO MARS was an imaginative voyage to Mars that was part of Mrs. Laura Abbey's Sci-Fi unit at Garfield Elementary School in Mentor, Ohio. During the experience, children were immersed in the wondrous world of science fiction and used their creative and critical-thinking skills to stay safe and nourished after landing on the red planet. They used teamwork to safely land their rocket ship, planet seeds in a mini-greenhouse, ration food, cope with the planet's harsh conditions, take samples of minerals search for signs of life and record their findings. Days before the experience students were briefed and prepared for their voyage with several creative assignments designed by 4D (IE). These assignments were paired with Mrs. Abbey's curriculum and helped build the storyline for MISSION TO MARS. This project educated its students on a what a colonization of a new world might be like while promoting inventiveness and adaptability skills.
